Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate? Is the passport program for children only?
Anyone is welcome to participate! Each participating location has something for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, we will have both youth and adult prizes to raffle off at the Closing Event.
Is there a cost to participate in the program?
While the Brazoria County Summer Museum Passport program itself is a free program, some sites may charge an admission fee. Details regarding admission fees can be found under the “Participating Sites” tab as well as in the physical passport.
What do the stamps mean?
Stamps are meant to be collected at the conclusion of each visit. The goal is to get as many stamps as possible before the closing event on Saturday, August 2. Participants who earn enough stamps can enter raffles to win fun prizes donated from each museum’s gift shop at the end of the summer.
In order to enter the raffle once, participants must visit at least 9 of the 14 participating sites. Those who go above and beyond and visit at least 12 of the 14 sites will get to enter the raffle twice, bettering their chances of winning!
Can each person in my family have a passport?
Yes! Each participant may have their own passport, or families may use one. However, each passport can only earn up to 2 raffle entries.
Does the passport holder have to be present to get a stamp? Can I get a stamp for my friend who couldn’t make it today?
While we welcome families/groups to make their way through the passport together, each passport holder must be present to collect their stamp. Remember, the goal of the program is to share the history of our area! The raffle prizes are just a fun bonus!
How to enter the raffle
Once participants have met the stamp requirements to enter the raffle drawing there are 2 ways to enter.
First, participants may bring their stamped passports to the closing event on Saturday, August 2 to be checked by museum staff and volunteers, then fill out the appropriate number of raffle tickets.
Second, participants who are unable to attend the closing event may present their stamped passport at any participating site to be checked by museum staff or volunteers before Friday, August 1. After filling out the appropriate number of raffle tickets, participants will leave them with museum staff to be transported to the closing event where we will ensure all tickets that have been turned in make it into the raffle drawings.
Raffle tickets will be drawn during the closing event. Winners in attendance may take their prizes home the same day. Winners who are not in attendance will be contacted with details regarding how and when to claim their prize.
How many prizes are there?
There will be several youth prizes as well as several adult prizes in order to give everyone a better chance of winning.
What if I lost my passport?
You are welcome to start a new passport if you lost your first. However, when checking stamps at the end of the summer museum staff and volunteers cannot give credit for sites that are not stamped in the passport you turn in.
